Luckily, the omicron variant of the coronavirus has not hot Alabama, which is great news for several reasons, but namely, cases of COVID-19 are down in Jefferson County recently, and numbers are moving in the right direction. Also in the news, there is a new board member for the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority. Read these stories and more below.

- Coronavirus cases are down recently in Jefferson County according to the Centers for Disease Control. (Trussville Patch)
