Happy Wednesday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening locally today. Some pretty nasty weather is expected over the next few days, and why not? We have seen temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s in the last week of December. These storms are expected to sweep through north and central Alabama and bring possible tornadoes. Here are the top stories today in Trussville:

1. As I was saying, the National Weather Service in Birmingham says some severe weather is possible for north and central Alabama over the next few days. Let's stay safe out there. (Birmingham Patch)
2. UAB officials announced Tuesday that, due to increased local COVID-19 transmission, everyone would need to wear masks in university buildings, regardless of vaccination status. (Birmingham Patch)
3. The City of Trussville declared the month of January Human Trafficking Awareness Month at the city council meeting on Tuesday. (Trussville Tribune)
4. The City of Trussville approved an ordinance authorizing the billing of reinspection fees to owners and occupants of commercial structures who fail to correct violations of the fire prevention code. (Trussville Tribune)
5. The St. Clair County EMA says they will no longer use outdoor sirens to warn residents about severe weather. (WBRC)
