Springville City Council Responds To Mayor’s Marijuana Stance
After Springville mayor Dave Thomas admitted to smoking marijuana and his desire to decriminalize it, the City Council issued a response.
SPRINGVILLE, AL — When Springville mayor Dave Thomas announced he would run for governor of Alabama, he also mentioned that one of his platforms would be to decriminalize marijuana, which prompted a response from the City Council, according to the Trussville Tribune.
Council members said at Monday night's meeting that they have received numerous calls since the mayor’s recent comments, and presented a proclamation for approval in support of law enforcement.
While the proclamation does not mention Thomas specifically, it does say, "selective adherence to, and enforcement of, the Laws is inappropriate in a civilized society and can ultimately lead to anarchy."
