“We are so thankful to all our sponsors, participants and supporters,” race organizer Anne Hornsby said. “As a nonprofit relying on the generosity of our donors, our fundraisers, like the Canine Classic, allow us to continue our hard work of supplying care, shelter and ultimately finding a loving home for our dogs and cats.”
Humane Society of West Alabama Executive Director Brian Gaerity said organizers hope to make this year’s race one of the biggest yet.
“We welcome walkers, runners, children and seniors,” Gaerity said. “It’s a fun event for a great cause. And with the Alabama-Georgia game later that day, you can enjoy your game day food and drinks guilt-free.”
The course is a flat, certified route designed for both runners and walkers. Snacks, fruit, water and sports drinks will be available.
