TUSCALOOSA, AL — No. 17 Alabama baseball won another thriller over No. 19 Texas A&M 2-0 Sunday to clinch the series sweep to open SEC play.

Tide pitcher Bobby Alcock (3-0) delivered a dominant a career-best performance, tossing seven scoreless innings and striking out a career-high eight batters.

The redshirt senior surrendered four hits, marking the longest outing by an Alabama starter this season, with that performance followed by reliever Braylon Myers throwing two hitless innings in relief to earn his first save of the year.

"Great weekend for the boys," head coach Rob Vaughn said. "We challenged them on Friday to be the toughest group on the field and they rang the bell. Our arms were outstanding all weekend and the boys competed their tails off in the box. Proud of the effort, but we have to keep growing. Proud of the boys — now on to South Alabama."

Catcher Will Plattner added an RBI double in the sixth, driving in Tide captain and left fielder Kade Snell for the game’s first run.

Snell posted a 3-for-3 night with two doubles and a solo home run.

The victory marked Alabama’s first SEC-opening road sweep since 1973 and improved their overall record to 20-1, including 3-0 in conference play.

It was also the Crimson Tide's first sweep of Texas A&M since 2021.

Alabama (20-1, 3-0 SEC) will return to action in Sewell-Thomas Stadium on Tuesday for a midweek showdown with South Alabama at 6 p.m.
