In the first year of the Kalen DeBoer Era, Alabama football was left on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoff Selection Show Sunday as the 12 teams were picked for the first year of the expanded CFP format.

The Crimson Tide (9-3, 5-3 SEC) was passed over after a chaotic season, while the SEC will send Georgia, Texas and Tennessee to the playoff.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee factored in Alabama's three conference losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma in their final decision to pass on the Crimson Tide.

In the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll released on Sunday, Alabama came in at No. 11, one spot above Southern Methodist University, who edged out Alabama as the last team selected Sunday.
