Alabama Paired With Michigan For ReliaQuest Bowl On New Year's Eve

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama (9-3, 5-3 SEC) is set to take on Michigan (7-5, 6-2 B1G) in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year's Eve in Tampa.

The news on Sunday came shortly after the Crimson Tide was the first team left out as the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff bracket was announced, with SMU snagging the final spot after coming up short to Clemson in the ACC championship game Saturday.

The matchup will also be a rematch of last year's College Football Playoff Semifinal, which saw Michigan beat Alabama 27-20 before winning the national championship against Washington.

The two schools have played each other six times and the series is tied at three games apiece.

Previously known as the Hall of Fame Bowl and the Outback Bowl, the ReliaQuest Bowl will once again be played in Raymond James Stadium — the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

ESPN will carry the broadcast.
