Alabama's Mark Sears Named To Bob Cousy Award Watch List

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday announced that Crimson Tide basketball All-American guard Mark Sears has been named one of 20 candidates for the 2025 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award.

The award honors the top point guards in Division I men's college basketball, with this year marking the 22nd year it has been presented.

Sears, who was named SEC Preseason Player of the Year, is one of six players from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) on the watch list.

Sears also earned a spot on the Preseason All-SEC First Team going into this season and after leading Alabama to the program's first Final Four appearance last season. He was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award at the end of last season before earning Second Team Associated Press All-America and First Team All-SEC honors.

Sears led the team last season with an average of 21.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, while also setting a program record with 797 points scored in a single season.

Fans will be able to vote on the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award later this season, which will factor into the final selected that will announced in March at the Final Four in San Antonio.
