TUSCALOOSA, AL β€” An arrest has been made in a Thursday morning shooting at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex that left one person hospitalized.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media Friday morning that officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to Creekside Apartments on Greensboro Avenue on the initial shooting call.

Kennedy said, that once on scene, officers found one person with a single gunshot wound, with the victim telling investigators he had been shot during a verbal altercation.

Kennedy said the victim was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center and is currently in stable condition.

Hakeem Dwayne Small, 33, was identified as a suspect and taken into custody in Greensboro by the U.S. Marshals Task Force.

Small was charged with first-degree assault and is currently in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond.
