Kennedy said while conducting the investigation, three additional child victims were identified.

"The Boone County Sheriff’s Office in West Virgina assisted with this investigation, where the suspect is now residing," Kennedy told local media on Wednesday. "Once indictments were obtained on the suspect in Alabama, the suspect was arrested in West Virginia and extradited back to Tuscaloosa County to be held."

Adkins was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12. His bond was set at $500,000.

Kennedy said the investigation is ongoing but said due to the nature of the assaults, and known proclivities of these types of offenders, investigators encourage anyone who may have been a victim or knows of any possible abuse to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690.
