The pizza chain was reportedly hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and was forced into bankruptcy in 2021, forcing it to shrink its footprint.

Known for its buffet-style pizza and family atmosphere, the Cicis Pizza brand was founded in 1983, Coppell, Texas, before growing to operate nearly 300 restaurants in over 20 states.
