City Leaders Unveil Improvements To Rock Quarry Landing Boat Dock

Leaders from the City of Tuscaloosa on Friday officially cut the ribbon for the Rock Quarry Landing Boat Dock.

TUSCALOOSA, AL β€” Leaders from the City of Tuscaloosa on Friday officially cut the ribbon for the Rock Quarry Landing Boat Dock, with the improvements aimed to allow easier access to the lake, along with the addition of aluminum boat docks and safety improvements for boaters.

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox, District 3 Councilor Norman Crow and City of Tuscaloosa Lakes Manager James LaFoy each spoke during the ceremony.

"Lake Tuscaloosa has provided us the opportunity to grow the University of Alabama, to attract world-class companies like Mercedes-Benz," Maddox said. "We've been very fortunate as a City to have this amazing asset, and it took a lot of vision to make that happen."

The project was funded through Elevate Tuscaloosa, with work beginning last spring and finishing in January.

"Rock Quarry is a gateway for people who don't live by the lake to use the lake," LaFoy. "It's amazing to me how far we've come."
