City Of Northport's AA+ Credit Rating Affirmed By Fitch

The City of Northport on Thursday announced that Fitch Ratings has affirmed the city's AA+ credit rating.

NORTHPORT, AL — The City of Northport on Thursday announced that Fitch Ratings has affirmed the city's AA+ credit rating and maintained a stable outlook for all outstanding warrants.

The news coming following a review by the credit rating agency on Feb. 25, with city leaders saying the designation is the second-highest possible credit rating for municipalities. This also reaffirms the rating upgrade the city received in 2023.

"Since our council and mayor were shown the first budget in our term, there has been a defined mission for conservative fiscal responsibility while accommodating our growing city with progress and also maintaining a spirit of community," City Council President Christy Bobo said. "Our commitment has been carefully and precisely executed by caring and dedicated department heads under the oversight of City Administrator Glenda Webb."

Bobo went on to say that city staff processes continue to improve to ensure accountability to provide for fact-based decision-making in managing the Ccty's finances.

“Receiving affirmation of one of the top credit ratings from one of the top three credit agencies in the United States is a testament to, and validation of, our staff's commitment to wisely invest taxpayer funds," she said.
