City Of Tuscaloosa Announces Holiday Schedule, Tree Recycling

The holiday season is in full swing, with the City of Tuscaloosa announcing its schedules for Christmas and New Year's Day.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The holiday season is in full swing, with the City of Tuscaloosa announcing its schedules for Christmas and New Year's Day.

Tuscaloosa City Hall will close at 4 p.m. and 311 will close at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23 and remain closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25.

The city says normal hours will resume on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Normal hours following New Year's Day will resume on Thursday, Jan. 2.

City Hall says garbage, trash and recycling routes will be impacted both weeks.

The week of Christmas, Monday routes will be collected as usual, while Tuesday routes will be collected on Thursday, Wednesday routes on Friday and Thursday routes on Saturday.

For New Year's Day, Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected as usual, while Wednesday routes will be collected on Thursday and Thursday routes will be collected on Friday.

The City of Tuscaloosa is also hosting free Christmas tree and live greenery recycling from Dec. 26 until Jan. 6 at the Curry Environmental Services facility, which is located at 3440 Reese Phifer Avenue.

City officials say greenery may be dropped off at any time and must be completely free of decorations and lights.

The city will provide a separate bin for recycling lights.

What's more, a holiday garbage collection trailer and an additional cardboard recycling bin will be located outside of Curry Environmental Services facility, along with a location outside of Verner Elementary School.
