City Of Tuscaloosa To Host Free Seedling Giveaway On Feb. 15

The City of Tuscaloosa is planning to give away over 2,000 bare root tree and containerized seedlings in honor of Arbor Week.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa is planning to give away over 2,000 bare root tree and containerized seedlings in honor of Arbor Week.

The giveaway will be made possible through a partnership with the Alabama Forestry Commission, The Westervelt Company, and Alabama Power.

Organizers said seedling types will include: loblolly pine, southern crab apple, eastern redbud, white dogwood, persimmon, red maple, pecan and more.

The event will be held at the Tuscaloosa River Market on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 7 a.m. until supplies run out.

The city says seedlings of several different tree species will be given away on a first come, first served basis, with attendees encouraged to arrive early due to high demand.

Additionally, the event will include the chance to learn tree planting tips and proper tree placement.
