Coker 12-Year-Old Killed, Several Others Injured In Tuscaloosa County Crash

NORTHPORT, AL — A 12-year-old from Coker is dead and several others injured following a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the fatal crash occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. Sunday, June 8, when a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado pickup was struck by a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 16-year-old juvenile from Northport.

ALEA said the 12-year-old from Coker was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene Romulus Road near Libby Road.

Troopers then said the teenage driver of the Ford was injured and transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

The driver of the Chevrolet — a 36-year-old from Coker — was also injured and transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

Additional passengers in the Chevrolet, including a 14-year-old and a 5-year-old, were injured and also transported for treatment.

The crash occurred approximately eight miles west of Northport and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
