District 1 Commissioner Stan Acker told Patch that the work will be done over the summer and will be ready for use next fall when school starts back.
Parking has been an issue there for years, Acker said, and this will help not only teachers and parents but the community as a whole.

He then said the project is similar to recent work done at Walker Elementary where the county added parking spaces next to the building to improve safety. Acker also mentioned that county officials are looking at other potential projects elsewhere that can help Tuscaloosa County schools.
“This is another example of the County Commission coming alongside our school system to make an improvement at a modest overall cost that will be significant for Huntington Elementary students, parents and staff," Acker said. "I do want to thank our County Engineering staff who worked on this project to get it to this stage and also thank all the members of our Road and Bridge team in advance for the work they will do this summer to get it completed.”
