The West Alabama health care provider says parking at the DCH campus in Tuscaloosa has been disrupted during the construction of a new parking deck, so the shuttles will serve those who have to park in parking lots farther away from the hospital’s entrances while the project moves forward.

DCH said the shuttle's exterior is wrapped to have the appearance of a ladybug and bumble bee, with the new shuttlers referred to as “shuttle bugs.”

“The shuttles are a way to further enhance the DCH experience for our patients, visitors and employees,” DCH Health System COO Mallary Myers said. “The shuttle service will ease the walking burden and make DCH services even more accessible.”

DCH then said the six-passenger shuttles will run routes to all of the parking lots on its Tuscaloosa campus, with drop-off locations including the north and south entrances of the hospital, the Outpatient Center lobby entrance and the Manderson Cancer Center.
The shuttles are possible through donations to the DCH Foundation.
