DCH To Use Drones To Clean Exteriors Of Buildings

TUSCALOOSA, AL — DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday announced it will employ drone technology for cleaning the exterior of its buildings, starting Aug. 23.

DCH Health System said this marks the first use of drones for such work in west Alabama.

“It’s quicker, safer, and more cost-effective,” DCH Health System Vice President of Construction and Engineering David Roberts said. “With drones, we eliminate potentially hazardous work environments while getting the job done faster and at less cost.”
DCH says the cleaning will be performed by a team from Atlanta-based SunBrite Services, which will operate two specially equipped drones connected to a water hose.

SunBrite Services will use a four-person team will manage the remote-controlled drones in an effort to reduce the number of personnel needed compared to traditional rope access methods.
DCH said the west face of the center/south wing will be washed on Friday, Aug. 23, and Monday, Aug. 26, while the DCH Medical Tower will be cleaned on Saturday, Aug. 24, and Sunday, Aug. 25.
Hospital officials also said parking around the outpatient turnaround may be affected during this time.
