TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Eutaw woman is dead and two children hospitalized following a fiery crash involving a garbage truck in Hale County last Friday morning.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says that the two-vehicle crash occurred on Alabama Highway 14 at approximately 7:40 a.m. Friday, when the 2017 Hyundai Elantra driven by 26-year-old Janae L. Neese struck the rear of the 2018 Freightliner M2 garbage.

ALEA then said that after the initial impact, the Hyundai caught fire.
Neese was pronounced dead at the scene, while two children — ages five and 11 — were passengers in the Hyundai. The two children were injured and airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

ALEA said the crash occurred approximately 10 miles east of Eutaw, in Hale County and the cause remains under investigation.
