Former Alabama Labor Secretary Appointed To DCH Board Of Directors
DCH Health System on Monday announced the appointment of former Alabama Secretary of Labor Fitzgerald Washington to its Board of Directors.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — DCH Health System on Monday announced the appointment of former Alabama Secretary of Labor Fitzgerald Washington to its Board of Directors.

DCH says Washington's career spans both the corporate and public sectors, Washington brings extensive leadership experience that will be instrumental in advancing DCH’s mission.

"Fitzgerald Washington’s leadership and dedication to community engagement will be invaluable as DCH continues to enhance healthcare services for West Alabama," DCH Board Chair David Hudson said.
Washington currently serves as corporate director of External Affairs & Community Engagement at Buffalo Rock Company and Alabama’s Secretary of Labor for a decade after being appointed in 2014.

Washington retired in October 2024 as the longest-serving Secretary of Labor in the department’s history and after achieving Alabama’s lowest-ever unemployment rate and highest workforce participation levels.
His leadership in workforce development and economic growth has left a lasting impact on the state.
Washington will replace Dr. Linda Oliver on the board.
DCH Health System says it Board of Directors consists of nine members, each serving six-year terms.
Board members are appointed by the Tuscaloosa City Council (2), Tuscaloosa County Commission (2), Northport City Council (1), the medical staffs of DCH Regional Medical Center, Northport Medical Center (2) and the board itself (2).
