Former Northridge Standout Named JUCO Preseason All-American

TUSCALOOSA, AL β Shelton State pitcher and Auburn baseball commitment Bodie Vail has been named a First-Team Preseason All-American Selection by JuCo Baseball Blog.

A former two-sport star at Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, Vail played a crucial role for coach Bobby Sprowl's Bucs last season, as Shelton State made the program's sixth appearance in the NJCAA World Series.

Vail started 14 games on the mound for the Bucs last season, posting a 3.25 earned run average and 67 strikeouts over 74.2 innings of work. For his efforts in the Alabama Community College Conference baseball tournament, Vail earned Pitcher of the Year honors.
At the plate, Vail hit .294 over 85 at-bats, finishing with 11 RBI.

While in high school, Vail was a standout on the basketball court, as well, leading the Jaguars basketball team in scoring and rebounds his senior season and becoming the second player in Northridge boys basketball history to score 1,000 career points.
