TUSCALOOSA, AL — Historic Tuscaloosa is set to conclude its summer lecture series on Thursday, Sept. 28 with a presentation by Sharony Green, an associate professor of art history at the University of Alabama.

The free event on Sept. 26 will begin at 5:30 p.m. and held in Farrah Hall Room 214 at the UA campus — a departure from previous years when lectures took place at the Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion.

Historic Tuscaloosa says the relocation comes in response to a significant increase in attendance, which has tripled over the past three years.
Green has been teaching at UA for over a decade and will discuss her recent book, “Teaching Public History Creatively in Alabama: About (Public) Face,” which was released in April 2024.
The book explores how students engage with Tuscaloosa's historical landscape through various assignments, including walking tours and multimedia projects.

Her lecture will delve into the complexities of how people interact with each other and their history, emphasizing the nuanced ways individuals experience and interpret their past, present, and future.
