Hollis Baughn Named Acting Tuscaloosa Fire Chief
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox on Friday announced the appointment of Captain Hollis Baughn to serve as acting fire chief, effective Nov. 23.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox on Friday announced the appointment of Captain Hollis Baughn to serve as acting fire chief, effective Nov. 23.

Baughn has served with Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue (TFR) for 21 years and was promoted to his current rank in October 2018.

He will assumed the role after the retirement of Fire Chief Randy Smith on Oct. 30.
Smith was named fire chief by Maddox in 2018 with 31 years of experience in fire and rescue services.
Smith's last day on the job will be Friday, Nov. 22.

“Captain Baughn brings to this position a wealth of front-line experience. His knowledge and passion for serving our citizens is contagious and I look forward to working with him in the following months,” Maddox said. "I am confident that Captain Baughn is the right person to hold this foundation steady as we execute a national search for the next Fire Chief for our City."
