As Patch previously reported, Tuscaloosa City Schools had three receive the honor: Rock Quarry Elementary, Central Elementary and Northridge Middle School.
Huntington Place Elementary was awarded for its core values of kindness, respect, compassion, honesty and responsibility embodied through the "Wildcat Way."
Two other Tuscaloosa County School System schools — Walker Elementary and Northside Middle School — have previously earned National School of Character distinctions. TCSS said Brookwood Middle and Davis-Emerson Middle have also been named State Schools of Character.
HPES will now participate in the national review process and will compete for the prestigious National School of Character designation.
