Investigators Give Updates After BF Goodrich Employee Electrocuted In Accident

Authorities on Wednesday provided an update after an employee at BF Goodrich​ was electrocuted and critically injured.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Authorities on Wednesday provided an update after an employee at BF Goodrich was electrocuted and critically injured in a workplace accident Sunday.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media that the employee was first transported Sunday to DCH Regional Medical Center and then to UAB Hospital in Birmingham with life-threatening injuries.

Kennedy said the employee was exposed to high-voltage electricity, suffered severe injuries, and is not expected to survive.

He then said Violent Crimes Unit investigators are working alongside the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences Medical Examiner and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

"No criminal act is suspected at this time," he said. "VCU’s involvement is in conducting a preliminary investigation alongside the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. The investigations into any related work conditions will be conducted by OSHA."

Kennedy declined to release identifying information about the employee, per the unit's policy and to protect the privacy of the family.
