Investigators Give Updates On Fatal Shooting At The Links

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit on Monday said self-defense was possibly the motive in a fatal shooting at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex early Sunday morning.

As Patch previously reported, Tuscaloosa Police responded just after midnight to The Links at 1800 Links Blvd on the initial call of a shooting.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media Monday morning that a 45-year-old man was found shot to death.

"Witnesses on scene reported the deceased individual had been involved in a domestic argument with a female, had forcibly entered her apartment and then began a physical altercation with a third party during which he was shot," Kennedy said.

Kennedy went on to say that since issues of self-defense have been raised, and at the completion of the investigation, the case will be turned over the District Attorney’s office and presented to a grand jury.

Kennedy said no arrests have been made at this time.
