Suspect Charged, Deceased Victim Identified In West End Triple Shooting
Investigators with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit are asking for witnesses to come forward after a fatal shooting in the West End.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Investigators with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit have charged one suspect with murder and identified a teenager who died after a triple shooting in Tuscaloosa's West End on Wednesday.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency unit, told local media on Thursday that Tuscaloosa Police responded to the initial call of a shooting a 4 p.m. on Beech Street.

Three male victims had been shot and were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Kennedy said one of the victims — 18-year-old Keandre Simmons — died from their injuries, while the two other victims are still being treated.

He then said that Jarell Hodges, 19, has been charged with felony murder, before saying that the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
Kennedy went on to say that several other subjects were present during the shooting, as well as multiple witnesses who have also been located by law enforcement.
