LAKE VIEW, AL — Voters in the Lakeview Fire Protection District will head to the polls this summer to decide on a proposed increase in annual fire dues.

The election will be held on Tuesday, July 29, at the Tannehill Valley Baptist Church.

Local leaders have said the district hasn’t raised its dues in two decades from its current rate of $75 a year per household. Officials with the Lakeview Fire Protection District have told local media that this is one of the lowest rates in Alabama.
The proposed increase, if approved next month, would see the annual rate rise to $150.

According to its most recent call numbers, the Lakeview Fire Protection District had responded to 422 emergency calls thus far this year in Abernant (44) and Lake View (378).
