“One of the central goals of Elevate Tuscaloosa is to foster an experience-based economy that ensures our City remains competitive for years to come,” Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said. “The Tennis Center project will expand these experience opportunities for our residents while also attracting tourism and generating significant economic impact.”

The project will include 17 new outdoor courts with spectator seating, a new restroom and concession building, lighting improvements and an enhanced facade.

Upon completion of the renovations, the facility will feature a total of 30 courts — up from its current 13 — which includes 10 outdoor and three indoor courts.

The city says the upgrades aim to position the center as a premier venue for tournaments and events across the southeastern United States.

“This expansion will not only allow us to enhance member experiences but also broaden our reach for tournaments and high-performance opportunities,” Tuscaloosa Tennis Center Director of Tennis Mike Goldammer said.

Improvements to Jaycee Park will include upgraded walking trails, new restroom and maintenance facilities, and enhanced lighting and security measures.

“Together, we are enriching our community and elevating the quality of life for our citizens,” Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority CEO Brian Davis said.
