TUSCALOOSA, AL — There is an active threat of severe weather for the Tuscaloosa Patch coverage area on Tuesday into Wednesday morning, so follow us here for timestamped updates on warnings, road closures, damage reports and more.

4:45 p.m.
- The National Weather Service forecast office in Birmingham has issued a Tornado Watch for Tuscaloosa County until 11 p.m.
- Click here for a list of storm shelters in Tuscaloosa County and here for designated storm shelters on the University of Alabama campus.
2 p.m.
- Shelton State Community College says it will close its campuses at 4 p.m. due to the threat of severe weather.
1 p.m.
- Both Tuscaloosa City Schools and the Tuscaloosa County School System have announced that there will be no extended day programs or after school activities on Tuesday.
- The latest forecast for Tuscaloosa County calls for a high chance of rain and thunderstorms after 3 p.m.
- Wind gusts are expected to be as high as 25 mph, with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch expected, apart from higher rainfall totals possible in thunderstorms.
- While a Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for much of the state, there are not active warnings at this time.
- According to the latest Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service forecast office in Birmingham just after 5 a.m. Tuesday, threats include tornadoes, damaging winds up 70 mph, and hail up to ping pong ball size. The highest risk for these threats is along and west of Interstate 65. Heavy rainfall may also result in localized flooding.
