A Look At Fundraising Ahead Of Tuscaloosa's District 1 Council Runoff
The two candidates for Tuscaloosa City Council District 1 are neck and neck in the month of fundraising leading to the runoff election.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The two candidates for Tuscaloosa City Council District 1 are neck and neck in the month of fundraising leading to the April 1 runoff election.

As Patch previously reported, the runoff will feature incumbent District 1 Councilor Matthew Wilson and Shelton State Community College Dean of Community Relations Joe Eatmon.

Wilson — seeking a second term on the Council — grabbed 408 votes (38%) in the March 4 municipal election, while Eatmon received 337 votes (31%).
Que Chandler, who finished in third place, received 331 votes (30%) before then endorsing Eatmon in the early days of the runoff campaign.

In the last month of fundraising, the two candidates have received big cash influxes for their campaigns from political action committees, local businesses and individual donors — combining to raise in the neighborhood of $40,000 for a runoff that will likely see less than a thousand ballots cast.
Over $100,000 has been raised by candidates in the race.
