The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the fatal two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m. Tuesday when a 2021 Honda Civic driven by Emanuel Hernandez, 19, of Meridian, collided head-on with a 2022 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven.

ALEA said Hernandez was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He was then airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, for medical treatment, but died from his injuries on Wednesday.
Troopers say the crash occurred on Interstate 59 near the 24 mile marker, approximately seven miles north of Livingston.
