New AT&T Cell Tower Expands 5G Coverage In Buhl
Tuscaloosa County leaders announced on Tuesday that AT&T has added a new cell site to enhance Buhl's 5G wireless coverage and capacity.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa County leaders announced on Tuesday that AT&T has added a new cell site to enhance Buhl’s 5G wireless coverage and capacity.

The company says the new site in Buhl will boost coverage along Old Boothtown Road, especially in the area of Sipsey Valley schools.

State Sen. Gerald Allen, a Republican from Tuscaloosa, said leaders in the legislature are committed to expanding broadband investments across the state as a way to help individuals, families and businesses.
“This network expansion in Buhl is an excellent example of how building a welcoming environment for private investment can help bring opportunities to all Alabamans," Allen said.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ron Abernathy also said this investment by AT&T will strengthen both public safety and the local economy,.
“When connectivity expands, we’re opening doors for families, students, and small businesses — while also making sure our emergency teams can always respond," Abernathy said.
The Tuscaloosa County School System (TCSS) says the new wireless tower is located on land it is leasing to AT&T.
TCSS also said this is the second recently added cell site in Tuscaloosa County that was built on land leased from TCSS, with the other being in the Samantha area.
“We are glad to be involved in helping expand connectivity across our Tuscaloosa County school communities,” TCSS Superintendent Keri Johnson said. “This supports communication and safety for our students and families.”
