Nick Saban Endorses Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox In Re-Election Bid
Former Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban has endorsed Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox in his bid for re-election.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban has endorsed Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox in his bid for re-election.

The endorsement in the nonpartisan mayoral race was released on the eve of the 2025 municipal election, which is set for Tuesday, March 4. Tuscaloosa voters will cast ballot for mayor, school board and City Council.

Maddox will appear on the ballot against Denson Ferrell II.
"Terry and I have worked closely with Mayor Maddox on several projects," Saban said in a video. "He truly cares about the people in our community and makes great decisions to elevate Tuscaloosa. Terry and I are proud that soon the Saban Center will be another highlight for people in the community to enjoy."

As Patch previously reported, The Saban Center is expected top open in 2027 on the former site of the Tuscaloosa News building,
The Saban Center’s campus will also house the State of Alabama STEM Hub, the Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre and IGNITE — formerly the Children’s Hands-On Museum.
