TUSCALOOSA, AL — The No. 10 Alabama men's basketball team made easy work in a hostile environment Wednesday with a 94-79 win over No. 20 North Carolina for the SEC/ACC Men's Challenge in Chapel Hill.

The win Wednesday represents the first time the Crimson Tide has won a basketball game in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The victory also improves the Crimson Tide's all-time record over the Tar Heels to 6-7 and extends Alabama's win streak to three over the Tar Heels — a first in program history.
All-American point guard Mark Sears paced the offense with 20 points, while five other players also reached double figures: Labaron Philon (15), Aden Holloway (15), Clifford Omoruyi (11), Derrion Reid (11).

Nelson also led the way in the paint, grabbing nine rebounds in the win.
The game was also notable for the fact that head coach Nate Oats opted to forgo the redshirt for Pepperdine transfer Houston Mallette, who made his Crimson Tide debut and contributed six points in his nine minutes on the floor.
Alabama (7-2, 0-0 SEC) will have an extended break to rest following an overly competitive road stretch and is set to return to action on Dec. 14 when the Crimson Tide takes on Creighton in Coleman Coliseum.
Tipoff is set for 6:15 p.m. local time.
