No. 2 Alabama Blows Out UNC Asheville To Open Regular Season

TUSCALOOSA, AL — No. 2 Alabama men's basketball made easy work of UNC Asheville, 110-54, Monday night inside Coleman Coliseum to open the highly anticipated 2024-25 season following the Crimson Tide's first Final Four appearance in program history last season.

All-American guard Mark Sears scored 10 points in the first half to pace the offense, going 3-for-3 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.

The reigning SEC Preseason Player of the Year finished with 20 total points on the night and 3 rebounds.

Auburn transfer Aden Holloway made the most of his Crimson Tide regular season debut, posting 11 points on the night, while other Tide newcomers Labaron Philon — a freshman from Mobile — and Rutgers transfer Clifford Omoruyi added 10 and 16, respectively.

Despite being limited to 17 minutes, Latrell Wrightsell Jr. came off the bench to go 5-for-8 for 13 points and 3 rebounds.

Alabama (1-0, 0-0 SEC) will return to action on Friday when former Crimson Tide assistant coach Bryan Hodgson and his Arkansas State Red Wolves come to Tuscaloosa.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+
