Northport Earns Risk Management Award From League of Municipalities
Northport on Tuesday announced it has received βthe Silver Risk Management Award from the Alabama League of Municipalities.

NORTHPORT, AL β The City of Northport on Tuesday announced it has received the Silver Risk Management Award by the insurance divisions of the Alabama League of Municipalities.

The city says approximately 800 public entities participate in one or both of the Alabama League of Municipalities (ALM) sponsored insurance programs β the Municipal Workers Compensation Fund (MWCF) and the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation (AMIC).

βThis achievement reflects the dedicated efforts of our entire staff, particularly Human Resources Director, Mr. Joseph Rose, and City Administrator Glenda Webb,β City Council President Christy Bobo said. βMr. Roseβs diligence in implementing comprehensive risk management strategies has significantly enhanced our operational safety and financial stability. We are proud of our city staff membersβ commitment to excellence and the resulting elevation to Silver Award Status.β
The boards for both insurance programs approved the establishment of a Risk Management Award system in 2002, which is presented to members who have instituted risk management and loss control activities in an effort to reduce their loss ratio.

Recipients of the Presidentβs Risk Management Award include the top 5% of those members with minimal losses for a five-year period, along with three other levels: Gold, Silver and Bronze.
The City of Northport's loss ratio came in between 5% to 20%.
The city was credited for its efforts due to employee, property and liability losses being minimized, in addition to employees and citizens reaping the rewards of a safer workplace and community.
