One Killed, One Injured In Crash Near Gordo Wednesday Afternoon

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Pickens County woman is dead and an Ethelsville woman injured following a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday near Gordo.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the crash occurred on U.S. Highway 82 roughly miles east of Gordo.

Troopers say around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, a 2005 Honda Accord driven by Barbara A. McDaniel, 63, of Gordo, collided head-on with the 2014 Nissan Rogue driven by an Ethelsville woman.

ALEA said McDaniel was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the other woman was injured and airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

The crash also reportedly left debris on the roadway, which was struck by another motorist from Berry.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
