Person Of Interest Sought After Body Found At Abandoned House On Old Fayette Road

Authorities are seeking a person of interest identified as Erik Bradley Thomas, 37.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit are investigating a suspected homicide after a body was found early Monday morning at an abandoned home off Old Fayette Road in northern Tuscaloosa County.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said deputies were called around 1 a.m. to the area near Highway 43 North on reports of a suspicious incident.

Kennedy said when deputies arrived, they discovered the body of a deceased male at the abandoned residence.

He then said the circumstances of the individual's death “are indicative of foul play,” and the case remains under active investigation. He also said deputies and investigators spent much of Monday processing the scene and searching the surrounding area for evidence.

Authorities are seeking a person of interest, identified as Erik Bradley Thomas, 37.

He is described as a Black male, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 240 pounds.

Kennedy said Thomas lives in the area but has not been located.

"Residents in the area that witnessed any suspicious vehicles or persons in the area of Old Fayette Road after midnight last night are encouraged to contact the VCU," Kennedy said. "Residents with video surveillance are asked to check their cameras for any suspicious activity."
