TUSCALOOSA, AL — Several hundred people gathered along the sidewalk in front of the federal courthouse in downtown Tuscaloosa Saturday as part of the nationwide "No Kings" protest coinciding with today's military parade in Washington, D.C.

The peaceful demonstration on University Boulevard saw sign-wielding protestors speaking out against President Donald Trump's policies, namely in the wake of large-scale protests across the country in response to his administration's approach to immigration.

The protest was organized by Indivisible of West Alabama — the local chapter of the national movement that hosted protests in numerous cities on Saturday.

Social media influencer and comedian Adam Rotenberry was one of the speakers to address the crowd and told Tuscaloosa Patch that he wanted the world to know that what's going on in America "is not right."

"I mean that's the short and sweet of it," he said. "It's not patriotic. These folks claim to be Christian, but this is the most un-Christian stuff I've ever seen. It's the most unpatriotic stuff I've ever seen. How can we be a nation built on these things and then we do the opposite of these things? And those are the people who claim they're the patriots? I just want to be here to let everybody know that they have my support and I'll be here every time I can."
