Que Chandler Endorses Joe Eatmon Ahead Of District 1 Council Runoff
Tuscaloosa City Council District 1 candidate Joe Eatmon has picked up a big endorsement ahead of the April 1 runoff.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former Shelton State men's basketball coach and Tuscaloosa City Council candidate Joe Eatmon picked up a big endorsement from a familiar face ahead of the runoff for District 1 on April 1.

Eatmon's campaign announced the endorsement Tuesday from Que Chandler, who appeared on the ballot during the municipal election and finished third in the first round of voting.

As Patch previously reported, incumbent District 1 Councilor Matthew Wilson received 402 votes (38%) in the election on March 4, while Eatmon forced a runoff by receiving 333 votes (31%) and Chandler with 321 votes (30%).
“As most of you know, the most important thing to me is the future of District 1,” Chandler said. “I want to thank so many of you for your support and your vote. While my name will not appear on the run-off ballot,” Chandler said, “Joe Eatmons name will and he shares my vision of a better future for District 1 and has my support. The most important thing we can do is participate in the election on April 1st. Together, we can create the positive change that District 1 needs. Let’s make sure our voices are heard."

Eatmon, a graduate of Central High School, served as the head men's basketball coach at Shelton State Community College for a decade before being promoted to dean of community relations in
Eatmon's campaign platform has focused on fresh leadership for district that saw its last pharmacy close, has only one grocery store and a rising homicide rate.
“I appreciate Que’s dedication to the district and her support,” Eatmon said. “Working together, I think we can accomplish great things for our area and give our citizens the representation they have earned and deserve. More opportunities, better schools and safer neighborhoods - those are my priorities for District 1."
