Reward Offered After Pet Tortoise Named Presley Stolen From Yard In Elrod

A Tuscaloosa County woman is offering a cash reward for the return of her tortoise after she believes he was stolen from her yard in Elrod.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tortoises aren't known for being able to travel very far in a short amount of time, so one Tuscaloosa County woman is offering a $1,500 reward for the safe return of her beloved pet after she believes he was stolen out of her yard in Elrod sometime Tuesday.

Teri Buford Grammer, a retired nurse from Northport, said between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. — her large sulcata tortoise named Presley was taken from her fenced-in yard on County Road 140.

After initially offering a reward of $200, the amount has since been increased to $1,500 for Presley's safe return. Grammer also said she would keep confidential any information provided if it gets Presley back unharmed.

Grammer told Patch that Presley is five years old and named after Elvis Presley.

"Someone local knows something," she said in a Facebook posted that had been shared more than 1,000 times in the hour after it was posted. "I need him home. I'm broken hearted."
