Rockford Man Killed In Tuscaloosa County Motorcycle Crash
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash Wednesday a few miles east of Tuscaloosa.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash last week a few miles east of Tuscaloosa.

ALEA says that at approximately 4:47 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 54-year-old James K. Atkins of Rockford was critically injured when the 2023 Kawasaki 650 motorcycle he was driving left the roadway and struck an embankment.

Atkins was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa but later died from his injuries.
ALEA said the fatal crash occurred on U.S. Highway 82 near the 57 mile marker, approximately three miles east of the Tuscaloosa city limits.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
