SCLC Announces Englewood Elementary As New Adopt-A-School Partner
SCLC says it will provide incentives and celebrate student achievements in academics and character, including "Student of the Month"

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama on Monday announce that the Tuscaloosa County Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) has made Englewood Elementary its Adopt-A-School partner.

SCLC says it will provide incentives and celebrate student achievements in academics and character, including “Student of the Month” recognition.

The advocacy group also plans to offer monthly incentives for teachers, provide volunteers for mentoring and school activities, and assist in developing and implementing a campus improvement plan.
“When social advocates support 360-degree learning modules for third through fifth graders, they help shape well-rounded, critical-thinking young minds,” TCC SCLC President Rev. James Williams said. “These modules integrate academic, social and emotional learning, ensuring that every child — regardless of background — has the tools to succeed in the classroom and beyond. The Tuscaloosa County Chapter of the SCLC is honored to add Englewood Elementary School as our adoptee.”

As Patch previously reported, the local chapter of the SCLC also adopted Martin L. King, Jr. Elementary School.
Englewood also counts Shelton State Community College as its other Adopt-A-School partner.
