SCLC Joins Adopt-A-School Program For MLK Jr. Elementary
The TCC SCLC will will adopt Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School for the 2025 school year.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama on Tuesday announced that the Tuscaloosa County Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (TCC SCLC) has joined its Adopt-A-School Program.

The TCC SCLC will will adopt Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School for the 2025 school year.

TCC SCLC will aim to provide resources, mentorship, and programmatic support to students, staff, and parents at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary.
The organization says this collaboration aligns with the core values of the SCLC— social justice, leadership, and community empowerment — and aims to foster a nurturing educational environment where all students can thrive.

“We are excited to join forces with Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School and support its mission to provide an unparalleled education for every child,” Tuscaloosa Chapter President Rev. James Williams said. “This is a great opportunity to give back to our community and help shape the future of the next generation of leaders.”
TCC SCLC says it will implement leadership development programs, literacy initiatives, culture and civility training, and special events to engage students and families.
