An Emergency Missing Child Alert was also issued Tuesday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. The alert said Kahleb was last seen on Sept. 4 in Fayette County.
AL.com's Carol Robinson was first to report Tuesday that the boy’s grandfather has been charged with failure to report a missing child.
The criminal complaint cited by AL.com alleges that 55-year-old John Elton Bailey “failed to report a missing child by delaying to make or failing to cause to be made the report with willful and reckless disregard for the safety of the child and the child suffered serious bodily harm or death, to wit: physical injuries to the child and the child was removed from the home and taken to an unknown location and no report was made by any resident of the home.”
Investigators are asking those with any information regarding the whereabouts of Kahleb to contact the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
Those wishing to report information are asked to call (205) 932-3205.
