Shelton State Baseball's Pickens, Steele Snag All-American Honors

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Shelton State Community College standouts John Michael Pickens and Mason Steele have been named to the Junior College Baseball Blog (JBB) All-American team.

Pickens — the inaugural Alabama Community College Conference Pitcher of the Year — earned third-team All-American honors.

Steele, a two-way player who anchored the Shelton State pitching staff, was named an honorable mention selection.

Pickens and Steele were the only players from the ACCC to receive the recognition.

Pickens, a Hueytown native, is a two-time All-American and is Shelton State’s all-time saves leader with 16. He also led the conference with 25 appearances in 2025, going 6-1 with five saves and a 2.80 ERA.

Steele, the 2024 NJCAA Two-Way Player of the Year, earned his second career All-American nod.

As Shelton State’s ace this season, he posted a 6-1 record and 2.66 ERA across 15 starts, leading the conference in games started and ranking among the top 10 in several key categories, including strikeouts (72), WHIP (1.13), and ERA.

The native of Headland also earned first-team All-ACCC and ACCC All-Tournament honors this season. Over 27 career appearances in Tuscaloosa, Steele went 13-2 with a 3.06 ERA.
