Shelton State, USSA Sign Transfer Agreement

The agreement will create a pathway for SSCC students with an associate degree who wish to earn a bachelor's degree from USSA.

TUSCALOOSA, AL β€” Shelton State Community College (SSCC) and the United States Sports Academy (USSA) this week signed a Transfer Articulation Agreement that will create a pathway for SSCC students with an associate degree who wish to earn a bachelor’s degree from USSA.

β€œShelton State consistently works to secure transfer and job pathways for our students,” Shelton State President Jonathan Koh said. β€œThis newest partnership with USSA provides our students with an opportunity to explore exciting degrees and careers in sports, sports management, and other areas.”

The terms of the agreement say USSA will accept credits for students who have completed an associate degree at SSCC and are seeking a bachelor’s degree in any specialty, while also accepting all full-time faculty or staff wanting to pursue a master’s degree or Doctor of Education Degree.

β€œWe continue to seek out articulation agreements like this one where we know high-quality students are interested in sports degrees," USSA President Steven Condon. "Shelton State represents one of the top-quality products in our state where applying a transfer scholarship might assist worthy students with receiving an online degree in sports business or coaching."

SSCC says any of its students, faculty, or staff admitted to any of the USSA degree programs are eligible to receive the Academy’s Presidential Transfer Scholarship, which will cover up to 30% of tuition expenses.

β€œThis articulation agreement demonstrates that Shelton State and USSA are committed to working together to offer high-quality educational opportunities that prepare students for careers in sports using modern technologies and traditional teaching pedagogical methods," USSA Vice President of Academy Affairs Fred Cromartie said. "We are excited to work with Shelton State on this important project."
