TUSCALOOSA, AL — Shelton State Community College sophomore left-hand pitcher John Michael Pickens was recently named the 2025 Alabama Community College Conference Relief Pitcher of the Year.

Pickens posted a 5-1 record with five saves a 2.89 ERA in 22 appearances this season, tossing 28 innings and allowing just 10 runs and 17 hits.

Pickens made history by tying David Slovik (2006) for the program record with his 16th career save.
The Hueytown native also logged 36 strikeouts and eight walks on his way to picking up three wins and three saves.

He is the first-ever recipient of the inaugural ACCC Relief Pitcher of the Year in 2024.
Over his two years playing for head coach Bobby Sprowl, Pickens has registered 46 appearances and compiled a 6-3 record with 16 saves and a 2.00 ERA over 63 innings. Over this time, he's allowed 22 runs (14 ER) and 40 hits with 89 strikeouts and 22 walks.
